I have a long history in model trains. I have modeled in several scales but I started in N-scale as a kid and in recent years made my way back to N-scale.

I started in machining/manufacturing in high school. Out of high school I did machining for a performance auto parts manufacturer for 11 years . In 2009 I went out on my own making my own parts.

My dad is a founding member of the San Diego Society of N-scale (SDSONS)  located in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. I can remember when the museum looked like an empty warehouse with  modules and construction materials/lumber laying around, nothing like it is today. Even when I was involved with other scales, clubs, hobbies over the years my dad would get me pulled into engineering/manufacturing a solution to an N-scale, SDSONS problem, project etc.

In October of 2022 I found myself knee deep in N-scale when I took on running the SDSONS club layout Tuesday-Wednesday-Thurday-Friday 10am-4pm all year round.  In taking on this endeavor I found that keeping the track clean was key to keeping trains running and this led to frustrations with all the cleaning cars the club had, and developing/testing of my own cars………..Joe
